Write a Top-Notch Thank You Note

With all that e-mailing, texting and Facebooking, chances are you're feeling rusty on the letter writing front! Peggy Post, co-author of the upcoming 18th edition of Emily Post's Etiquette shows you how to express your gratitude on paper.

Don't stress if it's a bit belated
Sooner is better but it's almost never too late to mail a "thank you". "I don't like to say within 24 hours or you'll be hit by a lightening bolt," Post says. "Write it anyway and don't say you're sorry - just move on."
Stick to three or four sentences
Name the gift or experience you're thankful for, one or two things you like or appreciate about it, and end with a nod to the future. "Looking forward to seeing you next month!" Then sign, seal and deliver.
Sound like yourself
"Be enthusiastic," Post says, "but more important, be sincere." If you're a naturally effusive person, go with it; otherwise, leave out the flowery adjectives. Just make it sound like you.

Don't forget, www.socialbutterflydesigns.com, has lots of great thank you note options for your writing pleasure!

Life and Where I'm at...

I am a big fan of Rachel Zoe and came across this quote she said for a recent article on the top stylists for THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER this month. I love it and it is a bit about where I am at and working on in my own life these days, although I had to add a decade! I haven't written on my blog in such a long time and it's time to get back to it so I am kicking it off with this little gem. Hey, I liked it enough to go creative on it and I hope you like it too.

We're 11 Today!!!

It's hard to believe but Social Butterfly Designs started exactly 11 years ago today...November 1, 2000. I had an almost 3 year old (now an 8th grader), an almost 1 year old (now in 6th grade) and a now 9 year old that wasn't even here yet. Thank you to my family, friends and clients for your support and encouragement over the years. To be able to run my own business from home, doing something I love is truly a blessing! Here's to another year!!

You Never Know Where Your Next Inspiration Will Come From!

I, along with thousands of other Missoni fans, made my way to Target this week to find the shelves near to empty upon arrival. I love it when Target teams up with famous designers to bring pieces of their line at affordable prices. It's just too bad when the marketing outsmarts the supply! It was Missoni madness to say the least and I for one got caught up in it. I was able to score a few cute items at the second Target I visited and then on the following day with a fortunate run in at Customer Service on some returns...timing is everything. Needless to say, I've had the famed Missoni zigzag on the brain this week and was inspired to design some Missoni-inspired Thank You notes and Birthday cards for the Fall 2011 Social Butterfly Designs line up. Are you a fan too? Let me know what you think!

I followed a similar path in 2010 with the Target launch of Liberty of London...very fun!!
